How often do you hear this description of a musical act: “the prog-metal organ trio of Downtown alchemists”? Not very often, presumably. Tonight, noteworthy composer John Zorn brings his extreme organ trio, Simulacrum, to Johnny Brenda’s. The trio of John Medeski (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Matt Hollenberg (Cleric) and Kenny Grohowski (Abraxas) will bring riffs, solos, and improvisations to the stage tonight. Get show info and concert tickets at the XPN Concert Calendar and listen to the trio’s “Marmarath” below.

Ani DiFranco performs at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood tonight. Touring in support of her 2014 release of her 18th album, Allergic to Water, DiFranco brings her soulful folk to the stage tonight. Get tickets and concert info at the XPN Concert Calendar, and watch her live performance of “Harder Than It Needs To Be” here.

Nashville folk-rockers Promised Land Sound bring their unique blend of country, soul, and folk to Kung Fu Necktie tonight. The four-piece released their second full-length, For Use and Delight, last month via Paradise of Bachelors. Get tickets and show info here, and listen to For Use and Delight below.
