82 year old country legend Loretta Lynn is revisiting the first song she ever wrote with her first studio album in 10 years. The album is called “Full Circle” and the song is “Whispering Sea.” which was originally released in 1960 as the B-side to “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl.” The album also features duets with Willie Nelson and with Elvis Costello, new renditions of Lynn’s songs “Fist City” and “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven,” and traditional Appalachian songs like “Black Jack David” and “I Never Will Marry.” ”Full Circle” will come out March 4th. That same day, a special called “Loretta Lynn: Still A Mountain Girl” will premiere on PBS.
Michael Stipe performed a string of covers including: Neil Young’s “Old Man”, the Doors’ “People Are Strange”, Boy George’s “The Crying Game”, John Lennon’s “Imagine.” He also danced onstage with Patti Smith during her song “People Have the Power”.
