Round two of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert contest is now open
Submissions are open for round two of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert contest! The folks at All Songs Considered are once again looking for creative interpretations of their regular live session series, which are usually filmed around host Bob Boilen’s desk at the NPR offices. The contest is open to all categories of musical acts that are currently unsigned.
For the contest, NPR wants you to perform one original song behind a desk. The winner will get to film an official TDC in Washington, DC, appear at a taping of Ask Me Another and go on a tour supported by NPR and Lagunitas.
In the official TDC videos, the bands are sometimes squeezed around the desk like sardines, other times a solo act transfixes everyone in the room. They can be stripped down, electronic or themed; the possibilities are endless.
Over four dozen local acts submitted videos to last year’s contest, with Port Arthur and West Philadelphia Orchestra getting special nods from the contest Tumblr page. Dig through a selection of those submissions for inspiration and learn more about the contest’s background here.
