The Lame-O Records Rock Residency at Boot & Saddle continues tonight with a headlining gig from Three Man Cannon. In many ways, these dudes are the glue that holds the Philly DIY scene together. Not only do these guys rock their own blend of howling and heavy guitar-rock, their Matt Schimelfenig is an ace producer who has worked with a bunch of awesome local folks – Cayetana, The Menzingers, Petal – and even heavy hitters like The War on Drugs. Joining them tonight are Sun Organ and lowercase roses. Listen to last year’s Will I Know You EP below and get more information on the show at the XPN Concert Calendar.
Groovy Movies is the solo recording project of Nick Carlisi, formerly of The Tough Shits. Like his old band, it celebrates the hooks and corners of the psychedelic 60s with energy and flair, and massively catchy songs to boot. Tonight, it opens the show at Ortlieb’s – John Andrews & The Yawns headlines. Listen to their self-titled LP below and get more information on the show here.
Singer-guitarist Mark Watter has collab’d with or been a member of Rosu Lup, Caroline Reese and the Drifting Fifth and more. His own outfit, Howlish, finds Watter taking center stage and rocking out toothy atmospheric jams reminiscent of Peter Gabriel and Joseph Arthur. Tonight, he headlines Bourbon and Branch; tickets and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
