Minneapolis electronic rock outfit Polica returns this spring with a new LP called United Crushers and a gig at Union Transfer on Monday, April 25th. This week the band gave fans a taste of their latest single, “Wedding,” after announcing the album back in the fall with “Lime Habit.” Frontwoman Channy Leaneagh tells Stereogum that the song has an urgent message inspired by current events.

“Wedding” is about the marriage between the militarization of police in America and the drug trade. How they feed off of each other and get fat and powerful at the expense of all of us. It is a serious song, but I hope it moves you to hope all the same.

Check out “Wedding” below, and listen to the band’s December appearance on NPR’s World Cafe with David Dye. Tickets and more information on Polica’s Union Transfer show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
