Japanese Breakfast is the Brooklyn-based band from Michelle Zauner, who also fronts Philly indie punk four piece Little Big League.

After the release of several cassettes, Japanese Breakfast will release a new full length debut album, Psychopomp on April 1st on Yellow K Records. Recorded in Eugene, Oregon, the album was co-produced by Zauner with Ned Eisenberg.

The first song from the album Zauner has shared, “In Heaven,” is a luxurious, big sounding pop anthem with a vast hook that in a very weird way reminds me of this song by Wilco, dressed up in some crushing 90s alt-rock grooves and a string arrangement that really makes the song soar. Listen to it below.

Meanwhile on the Little Big League front, the band is opening the sold out Loved Ones show at Union Transfer on with Cayetana on February 20th, but will also be playing a show with Lithuania and Pouty on February 27th at Everybody Hits. Go here for tickets and information about the show.

She’s also moonlighting in new project, Dog Island, featuring Alanna Nuala Higgins, and drummer Kat Casale.
