XPN favorite Hemming (Candice Martello) makes folk music with a rock sensibility. Or is it rock music with a folk sensibility? Either way, the phenomenal singer-songwriter is taking her talents to the suburbs tonight, headlining the first installment of the “Philly in the Burbs” concert series. Hemming will be performing alongside fellow Philly acts Up the Chain and Howlish at the Steel City Cafe in Phoenixville. Ticket information at the XPN Concert Calendar.

Tonight, the Tin Angel plays host to the second annual Kurt Cobain Tribute: Unplugged. The concert, which takes place two days before what would have been the Nirvana singer’s 49th birthday, will feature covers performed by four local bands: Andorra, Katie Barbato, Sansom, and Josh Miller. You can get tickets to the 21+ show at the XPN Concert Calendar.

Philly hard-rock trio Hound play tonight at Boot & Saddle. The group, who cites among their influences Motorhead and Metallica, released their newest album Out of Space in November. Tickets to the 21+ show are available here.
