Will Toledo’s Car Seat Headrest made a huge splash last year with their debut with Matador Records, Teens Of Style. After releasing several albums to Bandcamp over the past couple of years, the band has not stopped with its proficiency and work ethic and already have another record ready for us.

Car Seat Headrest’s new album, Teens of Denial, will be out this year, however today he shared a song from it, “Vincent.” The prolific Toledo has a uniquely screwed up vision of rock music that sounds both classic and modern. Teens Of Style was a hodgepodge of Beach Boys harmony and Guided By Voices lo-fi guitar freak-outs. “Vincent” shows a slightly cleaner production with its stadium rock-ready guitars and bombastic horns, but it still contains the collage style songwriting that the band is known for. Not very many bands release nearly 8 minute singles, either.

The video, an edited version of the song, shows a singular Toledo singing about “the Wikipedia page for clinical depression” while a party goes awry and eventually breaks down. It’s an intense preview of what is most likely to become one of the best rock records of 2016.

Toledo and the band recently performed “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales” at the band’s Tiny Desk Concert with NPR here.
