1968 – Aretha Franklin wins the first Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Performance for “Respect.” She wins the same award for the next 7 years in a row.

1972 – John Lennon’s U.S. immigration visa expires. It is the beginning of a four-year fight for him to stay in the US.

1976 – A Special “Leap Year” concert is held at London’s Roadhouse with The Stranglers, Nasty Pop, Deaf School and Jive Bombers.

1980 – Buddy Holly’s glasses and Big Bopper’s wristwatch are found in Mason, Iowa, where they had been since the men died in a plane crash over 21 years earlier on Feb 3, 1959.

1988 – Robert Plant releases his fourth solo album, Now And Zen. The tracks “Heaven Knows” and “Tall Cool One” feature Jimmy Page.
