This week marks the release of Rosu Lup‘s debut full-length Is Anything Real, a long in the making effort for the ever-evolving atmospheric rock outfit. In preparation for this milestone, the band set out on week-long tour through the midwest in early March and took photographer Katie Richards along for the ride.

As you’ll see in the photo diary curated by Rosu Lup’s Jonathan Stewart below, the band hit record stores in Pittsburgh, parks in Nashville and came up with some creative ways to pass time in the van.

From Stewart:

Living on the east coast my whole life, I didn’t realize how expansive the midwest is. The varying of the landscape was a major highlight of this trip. Wisconsin’s white birches, Kentucky’s rolling green hills, and the incredible architecture of Chicago were something to behold. While we played some really great shows and learned how to tour better, the people we met along the way helped make this tour a success. New friends let us sleep on their floors, fed us, laughed with us, and reminded us of how music has a unique way of bringing people together.

Stewart also sent over a stream of “In the Dark,” a sparkling track steeped in open road energy and the Americana aesthetic of Bruce Springsteen and The War on Drugs.

Listen to it while you browse through Rosu Lup’s tour diary below, then celebrate the release of Is Anything Real at Johnny Brenda’s on Sunday; tickets and information for the 21+ show with Levee Drivers and Hemming can be found here.
