The guitar is mightier than the sword: Philly indie rock trio Hurry are known for their hooky melodies and jangley guitar rock, and they have just announced their second album (first with Lame-O Records), Guided Meditation, along with the album’s first single, “Nothing to Say.”

Hurry previously released Everything/Nothing back in 2014, which was a flash of lo-fi fuzz-pop and sing-a-long melodies akin to Weezer or Guided By Voices. “Nothing To Say” slightly cleans up the band’s sound while still retaining the catchy vocals provided by singer/guitarist Matt Scottoline. Only this time, they’ve shifted into Real Estate territory with hazy guitars soaked in reverb.

The video for the song depicts Scottoline’s journey as an aspiring author as he struggles with fame and what comes afterwards. He metaphorically wrestles with the public’s perception of Guided Meditation before they have a chance to hear it, but surely he won’t end up throwing it away. And it surely won’t sound or read like a dated laptop either.

Guided Meditation is out April 29th on Lame-O Records, which you can pre-order here. Watch the video for “Nothing To Say” below, and see Hurry’s album release party at Everybody Hits on Friday, May 6th. Tickets and more information can be found here.
