This is what I love about music: Two of my favorite artists from different generations, who have been greatly influenced by each other, coming together to play music and talk music, all recorded for our listening pleasure.

Punk-rock legend Bob Mould, who releases his new solo record Patch The Sky tomorrow, visited alt-country hero Ryan Adams at Adams’ PAX-AM Studio in LA to be recorded and interviewed for NPR Music. Two great musical minds in one room talking shop and jamming out punk-rock majesty. Over the course of the hour, the duo talk about breakfast, strange hobbies, Adams’ love for all things Husker Du & Sugar, best/worst shows, and much more.

Mould brings Patch The Sky along with other classic songs to Underground Arts here in Philly on Tuesday, April 26th. Adams will be headlining XPoNential Fest at BB&T Pavilion this summer along with Kurt Vile, Alabama Shakes, and more. Tickets for both of those shows can be found via the XPN Concert Calender. Listen to Mould and Adams’ talk via NPR here, and watch Adams cover “Black Sheets Of Rain” by Bob Mould below.
