A deluge of announcements have come from the Steve Gunn camp this morning. First, the news that the Lansdowne, PA native / current Brooklyn resident’s new record Eyes on the Lines will be out via Matador on June 3rd. Then,  a video shard by NPR for album cut “Conditions Wild” that matches Gunn opposite a bear. And finally, a record release show at Union Transfer on July 9th that will be his biggest local headlining slot to date.

But back to the bear. The clip for “Conditions Wild” decoupages Gunn into the wilderness as he journeys, observation book in hand, through woods and across lakes. He meets the bear as he steps into a meadow, and the two become fast friends after a quick arm-wrestling match. It’s a lush video full of background images pulled from A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit that beg to be explored, which also served as the inspiration for the song’s lyrics.

Check out “Conditions Wild” below and Tickets for the all-ages release show are on sale now and available here.
