West Philadelphia’s Dali is making waves: his debut album In the Distance is out today, and it is unique and stream-of-consciousness hip-hop, flowing over ambient synths and trippy beats that he produces himself in addition to rhyming.

It takes influence from the jazz-inflected soul rap of Kendrick and Anderson .Paak while pushing further into an abyss of psychedelic vibes that cover themes such as love and addiction. On the loose “Fear Eats The Soul,” rain trickles like codeine as Dali spits, “I feel so numb, my pain is all gone.”

Dali will be playing Webster Hall in NYC on May 20th. He has yet to announce any Philly dates.
