Watch Restorations’ Paste Magazine studio session, listen to a new instrumental song

In the three LPs they’ve released so far, Philly rockers Restorations have shown us they can produce a wide range of sounds. Sometimes things are toned down for a sweet indie vibe, while often they deliver heavier alt-punk. In a recent studio session with Paste Magazine in Manhattan, they went with the former.

In what seems to be a glorified storage space lined with shelves of binders and folders, Jon Loudon’s unfiltered voice soothes on “The Future,” a track from 2014’s LP3. The rest of the band provides mellow instrumentals in the simplified version of the song. Also played during the session was 2012 single “A” and “Val d’Or,” a track from their 2011 self-titled debut. Take a look at the videos here — we can assure you it will be time well spent.

In other Restorations news, the guys have electronically released a track they first played in 2014 at Call + Response, an art exhibit in D.C. Recorded in Fishtown’s Miner Street Recordings with Jon Low, the track is a 12 minute instrumental of vintage Restorations shredding.
