He’s nesting up in New York these days, but we still keep tabs on Philly-bred anglophile extraordinaire Bill Ricchini and his band Summer Fiction. They put out a great record last year called Himalaya, and this week are gearing up for a duo show at NY’s Mercury Lounge.

Equally exciting is this song that showed up on Soundcloud this week – “I Know Very Well How I Got My Name,” a cover of a Morrissey b-side from 1988’s “Suedehead” single. The gentle, fingerpicked acoustic lead spins the song in the direction of Big Star’s “Thirteen,” while piano and harmonies lend it a nice Mojave 3 quality.

Joining Ricchini on this song is a crew of Philly collaborators: Alex Yaker of Roomtone (who is the other half of his duo gig on Wednesday), singer-songwriter Justin DiFebbo, and Tim Meskers of Brown Recluse. Give the song a listen below, and compare it against the Moz original.
