Aussie singer-songwriter/guitarist Courtney Barnett and her band rocked it out out the Electric Factory on Thursday night. Barnett is currently touring in support of her critically-acclaimed 2015 album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. With multiple festival set appearances, a recent debut performance on SNL’s season finale and a Grammy nomination, Barnett has had quite a busy year since her last performance in Philly at last year’s XPoNential Music Festival.

Opening up the set with “Dead Fox,” Barnett played through most of the songs off her recent album and a mix off 2014’s The Double Ep: A Sea of Split Peas. Throughout the set, she rocked out with her clever stream of consciousness style lyrics and rambling garage rock to an excited crowd. Backed by her bassist and drummer, she played in front of a backdrop of animated loops and psychedelic patterns accompanying the music. The crowd went especially wild during Barnett’s performances of some of her best known songs, including “Pedestrian at Best,” “Avant Gardner,” and “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go to the Party.” Between her sharp storytelling lyrics and her insanely impressive guitar skills, Courtney Barnett’s live set is one not to miss.

TSP (The Sandwich Police) warmed up the crowd as they opened for Barnett in support of their upcoming digital single. The three-piece group comprised of Evan Dando (Lemonheads), Willy Mason, and Mariana Jones. Despite a few technical issues, TSP had a great sound throughout their set of folk-rock songs.
