With the 9th annual Roots Picnic in the books, co-creators Black Thought and Questlove have let a giant cat out of the bag: they’re expanding the festival to New York City, and the line-up is ridiculous.

Okayplayer made the official statement this morning, announcing D’Angelo, David Byrne, The Roots, John Mayer, Wu Tang Clan and Nile Rodgers as headliners. The new iteration of the event will take place in Manhattan’s Bryant Park on October 1st and 2nd.

If you’re concerned about the future of our own Picnic, Okayplayer says not to worry – “the original Roots Picnic… will absolutely continue on as a Philadelphia tradition” they write.

And the organizers aren’t leaving Philly out of the NYC line-up, either. Chill Moody and DJ Jazzy Jeff represent the Picnic’s roots in the undercard alongside Trombone Shorty, Yuna, Deerhoof and X Ambassadors.

Read the full announcement here, and stay tuned for photos and recap from this weekend’s Philly picnic.
