Last month, Philly rockers Superheaven set out on a month long tour with two other area bands, The Spirit of the Beehive, and Creepoid — a total grunge-fest. This tour lineup was definitely sick, but the reason for this tour was definitely not sick. When Superheaven announced this tour back in April, they wrote, “At the conclusion of this tour, we will be taking an indefinite hiatus from touring full time to pursue things in our own personal lives. We sort of already began that process, as we really haven’t played many shows in the past few months. But before we do, we all thought it’d be fun to do one more with a couple great bands. Hope to see you this spring.” Superheaven brought this killer tour to Philly on Friday, June 24th, which was the second to last date of the tour.

The Spirit of the Beehive were first to take the stage, playing songs off of their self-titled 2014 release as well as their most recent 2015 release, YOU ARE ARRIVED (but you’ve been cheated). Creepoid was next, putting on one hell of a show from start to finish. Smoke came pouring out from underneath the drum kit, setting the mood for their very heavy set. Both The Spirit of the Beehive and Creepoid had some #girlpower happening as well, with Anna Troxell on bass for the latter and Rivka Ravede on bass for the former; Troxell, was jumping and thrashing all over the stage during Creepoid’s entire set.

Superheaven was last to take the stage and the crowd was wired from the very beginning. The dudes played a bunch of songs off of their most recent release, Ours Is Chrome, which was released on SideOneDummy Records in May of 2015 as well as songs off of their first album, Jar, which was released back in 2013 when the band still went by the name Daylight. This heavy set called for some heavy head-banging by both the crowd and band members. Per usual, the band ended their set with their most popular song, “Life In A Jar,” but cheers called for an encore and the band returned with “From the Chest Down” — six minutes of just straight thrashing.

Although there is no news as to when Superheaven will make their big comeback, or if they even will come back, but we wish these dudes the best of luck in their future endeavors and hope to see them on stage again someday soon.
