Boyz II Men’s classic Cooleyhighharmony will get a vinyl reissue

Motownphilly’s back again — and celebrating the 25th anniversary of hometown icons Boyz II Men‘s classic 1991 debut album Cooleyhighharmony, as well as the stellar 1994 follow-up, II. For the first time ever, UMe will reissue both albums on vinyl, out August 19th.

Both LPs are packed with hits, including the bands cover of “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” the Billboard Hot 100 chart climber “Motownphilly.” The Cooleyhighharmony reissue will feature the original album artwork and tracklisting, something previous reissues did not include.

II launched Boyz II Men to next level stardom, with back-to-back Billboard Hot 100 hits “I’ll Make Love To You” and “On Bended Knee.” The success of those singles marked the band as the third artist to succeed themselves at number one in the U.S., following after Elvis Presley and The Beatles. A beautiful rendition of The Beatles’ “Yesterday” is included on the II reissue as well as a bonus track “Fallin’.”

Boyz II Men will always be an integral part of Philadelphia, whether they’re putting on jammin’ shows (you can catch them in Atlantic City and Bethlehem on July 23 and September 22, respectively) or being a karaoke staple while waiting in line for cheesesteaks at 3 a.m.

Plenty of things may have changed since their debut release 25 years ago, but Boyz II Men’s impressive catalog will undoubtably never get old as it’s able to transcend time and generations.

You can preorder Cooleyhighharmony here and II here and check out the XPN Concert Calendar for tickets and more information on the band’s upcoming local tour dates.
