Every Monday night, join us for new music discovery on XPN. Starting at 8pm tonight, we’ll have a listen to brand new music from Norah Jones and Drive-By Truckers, celebrate the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival (with a Latin spin), and introduce you to a California songwriter who sounds more mature than his age would suggest.  Here’s a sampling of what’s coming up …

“New Song” by WARPAINT

It’s been a long wait, but the Los Angeles band Warpaint return with a new album and a new tour this fall!  Often ethereal and brooding in their presentation, the four-piece band turn a corner from the sounds of the first single of Heads Up, their new album.  “New Song” delivers in its upbeat approach, hypnotic nature and pop sensibilities.

“Bootleg” by LOS LOBOS

Quiero Creedence is a Latin tribute album to the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival.  It’s really an interesting take on some classic rock staples by folks like Los Lonely Boys, The Mavericks, Billy Gibbons, Ozomatli and more.  One of the standout contributions comes from Los Lobos and their version “Bootleg”

First Impression Artist: ETHAN BURNS

He’s just 25 years old, but his voice would make you think otherwise. Ethan Burns is a singer-songwriter from California who is about to release his first EP this September.  Truthfully, it took one listen before I was convinced to spin this one on Monday night.  It’s gritty, it’s inspired and the potential is overflowing on this one.
