New York lo-fi indie rockers LVL UP, a year removed from a gig here in Philly at Union Transfer, shared a new song Tuesday titled “Hidden Driver.” The single is the second to be released off the forthcoming album Return to Love — the band’s third LP overall, but first with Sub Pop Records.

“Hidden Driver” seems to be a title nodding to a higher power. “God is peeking, softly speaking, f***ing everything ’til i slowly do see,” states the lyrics of a fuzzy chorus. It’s a hard tune to tune out with a fast pop beat and a heaviness that culminates to a noisy finish. With this track and lead single “Pain,” it’s looking like the move to Sub Pop did nothing but good things for the band.

LVL UP headlines PhilaMOCA a little more than a month from now on Sunday, September 25th. They’ll be joined by Marge and Permanent Body. More info on the all ages show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Listen to “Hidden Driver” below.
