We’ve got some catching up to do this week on our New Music Show. We were off last week for Labor Day, and the new tunes are piling up.  Some big names headline the show tonight like The Pretenders, Sting and Kaiser Chiefs.  We’ve also got full-length albums from Wilco and The Head & The Heart to sample, plus …

“Waste A Moment” by KINGS OF LEON

Rumors have been circulating since around Christmas that Kings of Leon were at work on a new album. Three years in the making, Walls, was announced this past Friday.  It will be the band’s seventh studio album and should be out sometime before the end of the year.  Our introduction comes in the form of “Waste A Moment”, an unabashed, anthemic new song that soars from the moment it hits the speakers.

“Way We Won’t” by GRANDADDY

While Kings of Leon did keep us waiting for a few years, the return to the studio was a bit longer for Grandaddy. The revered 90s indie rock band just released new music for the first time in over a decade!  Jason Lytle and the band reunited in August, previewing some new material on the road.  The new songs precede a full-length album and the band has teamed up with Brian Burton (aka “Danger Mouse”) and his new record label.  Here’s one of the two new tunes called “Way We Won’t”

First Impression Artist: NO ALOHA

This week’s First Impression artist proves that while we receive hundreds of submissions every week, sifting through all of them is totally worth it. Meet Montreal’s NO ALOHA.  Unsigned and relatively unknown outside of Canada, they offer everything we love about rock n roll.  Their new album Deluxe is youthful, edgy and unpretentious, yet they craft songs like rock veterans.  If you love rock n roll, you’ll love these guys – enjoy!

The show starts at 8pm tonight on XPN – tune in!  And for whatever you might miss, make sure to subscribe to our XPN Best New Music Spotify Playlist.  We update it each & every week!
