Talk about ringing in the new year the most Philadelphia way possible. Not with fireworks at Penn’s Landing, or the whole mummers hangover on New Year’s day. I mean an epic concert from an acclaimed Philadelphian at an exciting Philly venue.

Today, we got word that Kurt Vile is doing the honors this year, headlining The Fillmore Philadelphia on December 31st. The local indie rock deity has been on a long run this year in support of his terrific 2015 LP b’lieve i’m goin down, released on Matador Records — we previously caught him on the main stage at the XPoNential Music Festival, and at NonCOMM too. Joining KV for New Year’s Eve are the spaced out Brooklynites Woods and psychedelic banjo oddball Nathan Bowles.

Tickets to the concert go on sale Friday, September 16th at 10 a.m.; more information can be found here.
