Rapper Mykki Blanco releases her debut LP Mykki this week, and kicks off tour tonight at PhilaMOCA. The Harlem native has a background in punk and performance art, and came to rap about five years ago, challenging norms and conventions over a string of mixtapes and EPs. Below, listen to the  Zane Lowe premiere of Blanco’s “My Nene,” a blend of driving dancefloor beats, hard rhymes and emotive singing. Get tickets and more information on tonight’s all ages show at the XPN Concert Calendar.

After appearing on a tremendous Folkadelphia session with Friendship last night (listen for that on the blog later today), Philly’s Abi Reimold plays World Cafe Live at the Queen tonight with Former Belle. Reimold released her record Wriggling at the start of the year, and it’s a triumph of cathartic songwriting with a heavy rock and roll edge. Watch her perform “Arranged” live in our studio below and get tickets and more information on tonight’s show here.

Anika Pyle is best known as the front-woman for dearly departed Brooklyn rockers Chumped (as well as the still-active but all-too-quiet Katie Ellen). Tonight she plays a solo set at Kung Fu Necktie, opening the show for Scranton native Roger Harvey (whose Neutral Milk Hotel-esque debut Twelve Houses impressed us last year. Tickets and more information on the show can be found here.
