1966 – Pete Quaife leaves the Kinks and is replaced by John Dalton.
1968 – The Beatles record “I Will.”
1970 – Jimi Hendrix jams with Eric Burdon and War at the London club Ronnie Scott’s two days before his death. It’s the last time he plays music.
1972 – Former Herd and Humble Pie guitarist Peter Frampton plays his first solo gig, opening for The J. Geils Band in New York.
1974 – Bob Dylan records “Meet Me In The Morning.”
1979 – The Sugarhill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight’ is released. While it is not the first single to feature rapping, it is generally considered to be the song that first popularized hip hop in the United States and around the world.
