Bryant Eugene Vazquez | still from video

Last month, Bryant Eugene Vazquez released Grey Expectations, a moody exploration 80s shoegaze. But with his new Out of Town Films session, he’s taking a step back. “The Barber’s Son” last appeared on 2015’s All Damn Day/Greatest Hits, and now it’s received an intimate live rendition.

With just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment, Vazquez sings quietly while strolling through Reading Viaduct Park. “The Barber’s Son” is a warm plaintive song, and it feels like a natural reaction to the below-freezing temperature of his latest LP.

If you want to catch Vazquez live in a more stationary location (like on a stage), he has a few shows lined up in the coming weeks, beginning at Kung Fu Necktie in support of Black Kids. It’s next Friday, October 28th; so head over to XPN’s Concert Calendar now for tickets and more information.
