This week, Philadelphia alternative rockers Two Cities released their new single “Taken Over” and announced their newest EP Paper Planes, out October 26th. This marks the first new material released by the band since the 2012 release of Little Ghost. Being a slightly unorthodox release, Paper Planes was recorded by indie recording superstar Will Yip (whose worked with Tigers Jaw, Anthony Green, The Wonder Years, and a whole lot more) of Studio 4 back in 2013, only to now be released to the public.

“Taken Over” explores personal troubles with alcohol and drugs (specifically marijuana) and the subsequent addiction that follows. Acknowledging the destructive nature of his vices, lead singer Mitchell Rohrbach keeps a somber but sweet tone, matching this realization of his broken nature (“It’s the happiness that can’t be found in bottles”) . With the band retaining an upbeat alternative style throughout the track, “Taken Over” tackles the personal struggles of addiction while choosing hiding it from the public.

Listen to the track below, and make sure to check out the full EP on October 26th.
