After a week off for Halloween we’re back tonight and our trick or treat bags are filled up with new music! Neil Young has been feverishly working on a new album and we’ve got the title track to Peace Trail to play for you.  Also, we’ll take a listen to Conor Oberst’s stripped down new album Ruminations and hear another new song from the always entertaining Foxygen.  Plus, check out a few more things we’re excited to share this evening …

“Stop Me (Stop You)” by NICK MURPHY

Nick Murphy is finally living in his own skin as a musician. The artist formerly known as Chet Faker is an immense talent in his ability to act as a DJ, producer, songwriter, singer and performer.  For Chet Faker fans “Stop Me (Stop You)”, the new 8-minute single, is a breath-taking musical evolution.  As the title suggests, it’s a song that suffers … no, benefits! from a split-personality.  It’s essentially two songs that are married together wonderfully.  It’s an ambitious step for Nick and one that totally pays off.

“On The Rocks” by BASH & POP

Back in the early 90s after the Replacements parted ways, Tommy Stinson formed the alt rock band Bash & Pop. Now, 22 years after they disbanded Stinson has revived the group and readies a new album that’ll come out early in 2017.  “On the Rocks” is pure rock and roll, rough and ragged but with a perfect sing-along quality.

First Impression Artist: ROO PANES

Without even looking at his bio or hearing his influences it’s a given that tonight’s First Impression artist is a big Nick Drake fan. And that’s a good thing. English singer-songwriter Andrew “Roo” Panes has a few EP’s under his belt and now two full albums. The 28 year old songwriter released his second album Paperweights earlier this year.  There’s a classical sensibility to Roo’s music and a folksy side too.  We’ll listen to a couple tracks on the show and see what you think!
