Philly artist MH The Verb has his feet firmly planted in various jazz, hip-hop and communities all along the east coast, and they converge in his most recent video — along with reflections on world events. “Last Dance in Paris,” which MH (offstage name: Marcus Harris) performed for his Key Studio Session this summer, is dedicated to the victims of both the Paris and Beirut terrorist attacks, and was released on their one-year anniversary.

The track itself is carried by MH’s smooth verses and jazzy instrumental arrangements contributed by fellow members of his production collective ArtHouse95, and the combination brings back the forward-thinking philosophical hip-hop typical of the the 90s a la A Tribe Called Quest. MH wrote this song after feeling cheated by the media amidst the storm of news stories about Paris and the silence about the attacks in Lebanon.

Harris, a few fellow ArtHouse95 musicians and a small group of friends made their way over to graffiti pier to throw a small soiree for the video. The colorful shenanigans are preceded by clips of media coverage (and lack thereof) the attacks. For most of the video, Harris walks around rapping into the camera while the contributing vocals of fellow Philadelphia artist Hayley Cass play in the background.

Watch it below; you can catch MH the Verb and ArtHouse95 in person at Silk City on November 30th. Click here for tickets and information about the show.
