This holiday season will bring together several local musicians for a good cause. The Holiday Benefit Show at Everybody Hits, which features emo/pop artist Grayling, fun punk duo Coping Skills, folk/punk songwriter Curtis Cooper (with a full band), and Zoe Allaire of DIY darlings Kississippi on the bill, will take place at Girard Avenue space on Wednesday, December 28th with proceeds going to Punk Talks.
Founded in 2015 by Sheridan Allen, the Cincinnati-based organization provides free mental health services to musicians and workers in the music industry while raising awareness of the benefits of self-care. About the importance of Punk Talks’ efforts, show curator Melanie Grinberg says:
Punk Talks’ mission statement is a message myself and the bands and people involved in this fest support and feel is incredibly important. Sheridan, the founder, along with the bands and others involved in this are all friends, and this fest is a big celebration of taking care of ourselves and our peers, especially in times of high stress like the ones we’re all enduring currently. The goal of the day is to provide a safe and comfortable space for supporting one another, and raising awareness for self-care and mental health in a tough industry.
