Mumblr is taking us into their creative psyche with the release of the jam-packed B-side compilation Foster Kids. The record features some odd ins and outs of the band’s three-year recording history, all demonstrating its ability to, you know, have a hell of a time making music.

The seventeen (yep, 1-7) track record takes us through a musical history lesson, as changing producers and recording studios evolve the band into its lovely basement-dwelling self we know and love today. It’s hard to really pinpoint a summarizable track on this record, as every song brings something new to the table. The tracks range from the atmospheric, high-school slow dance tune “I Still Think of You”, to the brass upbeat punk number “Mustang (The Ian Song)”, keeping any listener on the hook for the sixty-plus minute collection.

Stand-out tracks like the organ-laced reggae-infused “Stutter” and the garage rock jumper “-_- The New Kid” really demonstrate the musical chops these four boys have, while loose tracks like “Turn Up The Snare” find the band in a deep recording session, grabbing the work ethic of recording everything and anything that sounds decently good. Any die-hard fan of Mumblr will be euphoric over this record, as the band basically gave the world a recorded hangout session, letting any and all to step inside their strange, fuzzy world.

Listen to the record below (and download it for free!), and be sure to catch the boys when they take over Johnny Brenda’s next year on January 26th; more information can be found here.
