Canadian outfit The Sadies tapped Kurt Vile for vocal duties on “It’s Easy (Like Walking),” a track taken from the former’s forthcoming Northern Passages LP. Coming on the heels of lead single “Riverview Fog,” the track spins the album’s sound from hushed folk to languid rock.

Kurt plays it pretty straight as he ruminates on his natural guitar talents. With its hazy atmosphere and conversational lyric style, “It’s Easy (Like Walking)” could have easily fit on Vile’s own 2011 Smoke Ring for My Halo output.

Speaking to Consequence of Sound, The Sadies’ Dallas Good said:

“Kurt did a tour supporting The Sadies about a thousand years ago. We didn’t really know each other before that but we’ve been friends ever since….We always talked about collaborating one day so I forced his hand by sending him this finished song with a very short deadline attached. He delivered, as he always seems to do.”

Listen to the track below. Tickets are still available for Vile’s NYE show at The Fillmore with Woods and Nathan Bowles; pick them up here.
