Watch out everybody–Thin Lips has come down with a case of the splits! Terrible pun aside, the Philly punks have recently announced a three-way split with their soon to be tourmates Modern Baseball and The Superweaks, and their contribution, “Not Losing Sleep” is available now in all its streaming glory over at GoldFlakePaint. This track may not appear on Riff Hard, but it still does just that, meaning fans of their previous output will find a lot to love here.

A title like “Not Losing Sleep” may do little to imply conflict, but that’s precisely the issue at stake here. Take the lines “When we don’t fight about it / I can start to breathe” for example. When problems arise in a relationship, it’s always easier to brush things under the rug than confront them head on, and vocalist Chrissy Tashjian understands this all too well. It may be easier to breathe, but they’re also smothering “every ounce of [their] autonomy”, and there’s nothing pleasant about that. We can at least be thankful all that extra sleep gave them the energy to write a barn-burner of a track, and now, you can learn from Tashjian’s mistakes. What are you waiting for? Go home and break up with your significant other RIGHT NOW (unless you still like them).
