30 years ago, the late great Roy Orbison began his late 80’s comeback with the historic all-star “Black & White Night” concert film and show at LA’s Coconut Grove Club. It’s now getting the special bonus treatment to mark the 30 year milestone.

Roy Orbison: Black & White Night 30 comes out Feb. 24th and will feature previously unreleased performances. According to Billboard it will include “5 songs performed after the formal concert ended and the audience left the Coconut Grove club on Sept. 30, 1987.”

The project came about when Alex Orbison, Roy’s son and the President of Roy’s Boys, found a box of tapes in a vault while searching for some bonus material for a deluxe edition of 1989’s Mystery Girl, Orbison’s last album.

The Black & White Night concert in 1987 came prior to Orbison’s involvement with the Traveling Wilburys. Among the special guests performing with Roy Orbison that night: Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, k.d. Lang, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, & J.D. Souther. The set is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray as well as CD.
