There is no shortage of new music right now, and that’s a great thing! It really has been an amazing start to 2017 as we heard last week on our New Music Show and tonight is no different.  Tune in at 8pm as we’ll hear the return of Philadelphia’s own Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  Also, do you remember the band American Music Club? Well, frontman/founder Mark Eitzel has a new solo album that should not be overlooked … we’ll take a listen.  And it’s been 22 years since we last heard a new song from the band Slowdive.  We’ll play that, and guess who else is back???

Elbow “Magnificent (She Says)”

Led by one of the great voices in music, Guy Garvey, the English band Elbow usher in 2017 with a new album called Little Things.  The album comes out on February 3rd and the anthemic “Magnificient (She Says)” is our introduction.  Very much a trademark of their sound, Garvey croons as the song soars over exquisite orchestration gaining momentum with each measure.  It’s beautiful and majestic, and we can’t wait to hear how it sounds over the airwaves tonight!

BELL X1 “Bring Me A Fire King”

No stranger to XPN fans, Bell X1 return with their first album in over three years. Here is a band that truly is one of the great Irish musical exports of the 21st century.  Songwriter and frontman Paul Noonan is clever and witty, and stylistically the band always showcases great dexterity. Arms, the new album, follows suit.  We’re happy that the band will be back in the States, their show next month at Boot & Saddle is already SOLD OUT.  No admission required to listen tonight as we’ll spin this one.

FIRST IMPRESSION: TASH SULTANA

The stardom ceiling may be high for tonight’s First Impression artist. There is something almost magical to the Melbourne based Tash Sultana.  She’s a talented songwriter, a surprisingly killer guitarist and she orchestrates her music as pretty much a one-woman show.  From busking on the streets in Australia to finding an online audience via YouTube to scoring her first label deal with Mom + Pop (same label as Courtney Barnett) the trajectory continues to move in the right direction
