Heart Hitter: Vol 1 is a new compilation of cover songs organized by local artist JL Simonson and featuring a handful Philly bands in support of The Trevor Project, a national suicide prevention organization that offers crisis intervention, mental health education, and other critical services for young LGBTQ people. The comp is available on Bandcamp now, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the organization.

Featured on the record are Coping Skills doing “Social Skills” by Naps, Tombo Crush covering “Greyhound” by Kississippi, Fred Beans‘ version of “Libra” by Claire Cottril, and Simonson’s own Boyscout Thriller project covering “I Think I Love You” by Waxahatchee in addition to several other contributions by musicians from around the country.

Stream and download Heart Hitter: Vol 1 below. Johnny Brenda’s is hosting another benefit for the Trevor Project on Friday, February 24th featuring Abi Reimold, Mannequin Pussy, King Azaz, and Caracara; tickets and information for that show can be found here.
