It makes a lot of sense that the new records from Norwegian Arms and Dominic would arrive at nearly the same time. The former’s Brendan Mullvihill and the latter’s Dom Angelella have become quite the BFFs over the years, collaborating on each other’s projects in both live and studio settings. In recognition of this friendship (and also because this just makes for a total party of a billing) they’ll celebrate the releases of Girard Freeloader and Goodnight, Doggies respectively at Johnny Brenda’s on February 3rd.

We’ve heard snippets from both albums recently. Mulvihill sent us the glittering, spacious “Find Truth” in the fall, building on the colorful pop we heard on his 2012 LP Wolf Like a Stray Dogfrom the angle of lusciously sparse 80s synth pop. He’s also shared two other singles from the new effort, one of which you can hear below. Dom, meanwhile, is coming at indie rock from left of center. Lead single “Birthday Song” is a textural cobbling of ear-wormy keys and other fun instrumentation.

Catch the joint record release show at Johnny Brenda’s on February 3rd (with No Thank You opening); tickets and information can be found here. Stream “How We Move” from Norwegian Arms and “Birthday Song” from Dominic below.
