When an artist’s last record was a widely acclaimed magnum opus double LP, it’s understandable that they’d want to take a while to make sure its successor is as amazing as possible. So even though it seems like forever away when Win Butler is telling Pitchfork that the next Arcade Firerecord will be out in spring 2018, maybe — you know, that could be kind of a good thing.

In the meanwhile, the band has been giving us some very early appetizers to dig into — the fired-up industrial funk of “I Give You Power,” co-starring Mavis Staples, hit our earbuds last week. And today, we’ve got a preview of the band’s new concert DVD, The Reflektor Tapes / Live at Earls Court, out this Friday.

While the band has had hits and misfires over its four album / decade-and-a-half run, one thing that even the detractors can’t deny is how powerful Arcade Fire is as a live band, and that shines in the two clips the band shared today. An incredible performance of “Rebellion (Lies)” from the DVD is streaming over at Pitchfork, and aside from the band’s glorious multi-instrumental expanse, you get the visual of Will Butler slamming the heck out of his marching drum, as well as the trippy digital projections that followed the band around on its arena tour.

Watch the video here, and check out other clips from the DVD — “The Suburbs” and “Reflektor” — below.
