There’s a whole lotta new in the world of Cayetana. A new album called New Kind of Normal comes out on their own new label Plum Records on May 5th, which is preceded by this new video for lead single “Mesa.” The track originally appeared on a split with Camp Cope earlier this year but finally gets the visual treatment courtesy of Adam Peditto this week.

Premiered on NPR Music, the “Mesa” clip takes us into a mid-recording dream sequence with bandmates Augusta Koch, Allegra Anka, and Kelly Olsen. The three musicians file out of the studio through a half-sized wooden door and take off on independent journeys, eventually finding their way back to each other in a forest. Interspersed with shots of the band playing in a flower-filled, softly lit room, the video seems like a nod to the real-life, serendipitous journeys that led them to this moment of creative collaboration and friendship.

About the new label and their plans for the future, Cayetana tell NPR:

“Starting Plum Records was born out of our realization that we thrive when we trust our instincts, and take decision-making and creative control into our own hands. For us, it was the best way to create art without compromise, on our own terms, in our own time, in our own way, and we hope to eventually extend that to other artists. We’ve always envisioned Cayetana as a project that has the potential to be a vessel for something bigger than just our own work. Plum Records is a look inward, and a look to the future.”
