1955 – Bo Diddley records “Bo Diddley” and “I’m a Man” during his first session at Universal Recording Studio in Chicago.

1964 – The Beatles begin work on their first film, A Hard Day’s Night.

1967 – The Supremes record “Reflections” and “The Happening.”

1973 – The Doobie Brothers release The Captain and Me.

1983 – CD players are launched in the US, along with 16 CD’s released by CBS Records. The first test pressing of a CD had taken place four years prior in 1979, and they had been available elsewhere in the world prior to this date.

1984This Is Spinal Tap is released in theaters.

1987Trio, a collaborative album between Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, and Linda Ronstadt that had been planned since 1979, is finally released. It goes on to sell over 4 million copies and wins the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.

1988 – U2 win their first Grammy Awards: Album of the Year for The Joshua Tree and Best Performance by Rock Duo or Group with Vocal for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
