Last week, the world lost a rock and roll legend: Chuck Berry passed away at at his home in Missouri at age 90. In October, 2016, it was announced that Berry was going to release his first new album in 38 years. The announcement came on his 90th birthday.
The first taste of Berry’s new album, CHUCK, was a bittersweet one; the single “Big Boys” was released last Wednesday, just two days after Berry’s death. The album, due in June, features his kids Charles Berry Jr. (guitar) and Ingrid Berry (vocals, harmonica), plus a rhythm section of Jimmy Marsala (Berry’s bass player for 40 years), and Keith Robinson on drums, and Robert Lohr on piano. Special guests on the album include Tom Morello, Nathaniel Ratefliff, and Gary Clark, Jr. According to Rolling Stone, the ten song collection was written between 1991 and 2014 and will be released on June 16th.
