English indie pop act The Japanese House played to a sold out crowd at The Foundry on Saturday night. Amber Bain, the 21-year-old behind the band, performed with a 3-member backing band for a solid, and their12-track set featured standouts like “Clean,” “Cool Blue,” and a brand new track titled “Leon.” The Foundry was packed with fans of the band and was an all-ages show, so the crowd was a mixed in age but thoroughly excited by the set.

Although The Japanese House has a very chill and mellow vibe when listening their recordings, their live show offers a richer, fuller sound, while still maintaining that lush, brooding electronic dream pop from their releases Swim Against The TideClean, and Pools To Bathe In.

The show was magical and haunting at the same time as Bain glided through each song with ease and flawless transitions. The rising star has only been active in the industry for a few years, but despite her brief resume, she has this incredible, natural ability to be able to create emotional, electronic illustrations of life in the form of song.

Bain’s first Philadelphia tour stop was last year as the opener for the 1975 and Wolf Alice at the Mann Center. In such a short time period, she’s been able to captivate the ears of so many.

Up and coming British act Blaise Moore opened the nightand performed a bold set of pop songs infused with some sick hip hop beats. Her first EP, Laurence, clearly is a breakup record. Her confidence, yet disappointment is infused throughout the EP and was throughout her performance. If you’re familiar with Banks, Moore is very similar in sound.

Be sure to check out both artists’ EP’s that are available now, and check out photos from the show in the gallery below.
