Our latest Indie Rock Hit Parade Live Session is with the Seattle trio Dude York! Gradually formed out of a lo-fi side project, Dude York released their second full-length, Sincerely, earlier this year on Hardly Art. The band’s penchant for hooky power pop is melded (and melted) with a veritable army of distortion pedals. The result is a sweet-and-sour approach to breakups, breakdowns and celebrating your own damn self.

Our session opens the same way the album does, with Peter Richards‘ layered guitar work kicking serving as a deceptively floaty intro to the searing “Black Jack.” Bassist Claire England spars with Richards on the back-and-forth “Tonight” and takes the lead on the band’s masterpiece, the anthemic “Love Is.” As a bonus, the band digs deep into the album for a performance of “Something In The Way,” which showcases drummer Andrew Hall‘s incredibly nimble touch as he navigates the song’s shifting tempos.
