Philadelphia based cellist Daniel De Jesús has released a three-part EP called Triptych, a set of compositions inspired by an eponymous play by New York writer Albert Andrew Garcia. The Latin Roots alum first presented the work at Dixon Place in New York in September of 2016, accompanied by an experimental dance and movement performance.

Presented as a retelling of “secular stories as a form of reincarnation,” the recordings represent the experiences of the Devil, Adam, and Eve in relation to the fall of man. As he writes on Bandcamp, “Surface Blood” is a conversation between the Devil and two angels that explores the impetus of malice, while “Synapse” and “Sempervirens” juxtapose Adam and Eve’s respective experiences after gaining knowledge.

Stream Triptych below. De Jesús will perform at the Get Pegged Cabaret on May 12th; more information can be found here.
