“Beautiful Life” was the second single from Time Traveler, the debut album from local quartet The Bigness. When we first heard the track last summer it was on the heels of their careening, escapist 70s rocker “Run! Run!,” so the slow burn of “Beautiful Life” offered a glimpse of the band, led by Kristen Bigness, in a more reflective mood. That reflection is carried over into the music video for the track, which we’re premiering today ahead of The Bigness’ headlining slot upstairs at Kung Fu Necktie on May 10th.

The black and white clip, Kristen tells us over email, “intertwines concepts of beauty, balance, and time, mirroring the song’s lyrics” and was a “labor of love” for all involved: Kristen’s father Randy filmed the video, and it was directed/edited by her husband and lead guitarist John Bueno. Her longtime friend (since the first grade!) Laura Rennegade choreographed and performed the lyra work that slips in and out of the footage of Kristen exploring Fairmount Park. It’s pensive in a 90s alt rock kinda way, soft and subtle but not at all lacking in hooky guitar riffs or even sing-along refrains.

The Bigness perform upstairs at The Fire on Wednesday, May 10th. Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here; watch “Beautiful Life” below.
