Philly garage rockers The Improbables play their first show in over a year on Friday as part of the closing night of the Suitable for Framing art exhibition at PhilaMOCA. They’ll be joined by a Jason Killinger (of Spacin’ and Birds of Maya) solo set and I Think Like Midnight, which features members of both the Wishniaks and Dead Milkmen. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the small entrance request of a $10 donation.

Friday night should be a smashing return for The Improbables, who are fresh off last month’s release of their latest album Object To Be Destroyed via Baltimore’s Hidden Volume Records. It’s a rather glorious LP for the local garage trio; they come from the mid-’90s Atlantic City scene, but sound like something born and bred in the ’60s or ’70s. They call these 12 songs “highly toxic fuzz and thunder” that span the range of ballads and heavy rock. The album’s standout track might have be its second, “Crawl With Me,” thanks to its unrelenting pace — but that’s a tough call considering the consistency all the way through the 12 tunes.

Object To Be Destroyed can be streamed in its entirety below, and more information regarding Friday’s gig at PhilaMOCA is all right here.
