When a band goes dormant for 13 years, it’s not uncommon for an eventual return to involve a recreation of their sound. Luna, the NYC-based guitar crew, took a bit of a different approach to their comeback — they’re recreating the sound of other acts. In the fall, Luna will release an LP of covers entitled A Sentimental Education, along with a six-song EP of original instrumentals called A Place Of Greater Safety. Both are due out on September 22 via Double Feature.

Debuted Wednesday was the first of these new Luna covers, and it’s a daring effort in Fleetwod Mac’s “One Together,” off the album Klin House. Give it a listen below, and here’s a link to the original if you choose to compare. If you’re impressed, you’re in for a real treat. The rest of the album includes covers of David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Cure, YES and more. Check out the track list below.

Also just announced, Luna will hit the road this fall, including a stop at Union Transfer on Thursday, November 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 2 at noon. More information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
