We had a feeling guitarist Chris Forsyth was in the studio late last year, and today we get some details about the outcome of those sessions via NPR. Along with a thoughtful interview about engaging with the world rather than trying to escape from it through music, the Philadelphian shared a new composition called “Dreaming In the Non-Dream” that acts as lead single and title track to his forthcoming Solar Motel Band effort.
Dreaming In the Non-Dream follows last year’s The Rarity of Experience and will be out August 25th via No Quarter. It’s a product of the presidential election and a reflection on the state of the country, pulling its name from a William S. Burroughs quote that reads in part “America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence.” Heady stuff, but Forsyth grounds the loftiness with nearly 16 minutes of jolt-you-awake guitar rock.
