Grizzly Bear just dropped another single in anticipation of their upcoming album Painted Ruins, which debuts on August 18th.Switching from the upbeat urgency of “Mourning Sound” is the slower, dark and twisted paradise track, “Four Cypresses.”

With opening lyrics drawling, “Instead of moving, you stared into a wall” the song’s tone of languid, terrifying complacency is set. Continuing with the lines, “Living in a pile / It’s chaos, but it works,” the song marches lazily on through a hectic, noise-filled world.

The band also shared a lyric video for the track, which features what would otherwise be harmless old home video tapes. But when coupled with the song’s eerie, almost medieval execution drum beating in the background and Droste’s warped and ominous vocals floating through, the video transforms into an incredibly unsettling distortion.

Watch the video for “Four Cypresses” below; then, catch Grizzly Bear when they stop by The Fillmore on November 7th. More info on the show is available over at the XPN Concert Calendar.
